Dislikes: Bad manners & people eating his chocolate.
My Story: I became involved when my eldest son (now 18!) started in Beavers. Having been a parent helper for a while, I was asked to become a member of the Exec committee and have a say in how the group was run.
Having helped out for a while, I couldn’t resist the idea of taking the kids on adventures of my own; so I began the training to become a leader. This gave me the chance to learn new skills, practice others and re-live my childhood by getting involved in the fun and games in a big way.
As G.S.L I took my training to the next level and took on the challenge of helping to lead the Group into the future.
Seeing the young people who attend 1st Hurdsfield grow and develop into capable, responsible, kind and caring young adults is rewarding beyond words. That, plus the chance to play games at least once a week is what inspires me in my role as G.S.L. every day.

Our leadership team is entirely made up of volunteers who enjoy running cub meetings! All adult leaders have training and a CRB check, and there is always at least one adult who is first aid qualified.
If you would like the opportunity to do something you’d never thought of doing, while having lots of fun and giving back to the community at the same time, please get in touch – we can always do with more leaders!
